Bluestone House Numbers
Hand-carved bluestone house numbers are a testament to the enduring beauty of natural stone and the artistry of skilled craftsmen. Each number is meticulously carved from solid bluestone, a durable and weather-resistant material.
These handcrafted numbers not only serve as practical address markers but also elevate the aesthetic appeal of any home, adding a touch of timeless elegance and individuality.

Installations
Over the years I’ve made markers near where I live - first in Woodstock NY and now in Winchester MA.
Process
To create a stone carving, a wooden template is first created to serve as a guide for the design.
Using pneumatic tools, I meticulously carve the design into the stone, bringing the artwork to life.
Short video of carving of number. Warning - it’s loud :)
Dimensions
Each marker is made from a 2"x14"x60" bluestone stair tread. These weigh approximately 140lbs and need to be sunk into the ground at least 16", but 20" is better. Final installed height then is 40" to 44".
Lighting
If your site has enough sunlight a solar powered spotlight works well. These provide a few hours of illumination after dusk. Homedepot sells one that is not too bright and has a warm color. It’s used for the “59” marker at night.
Pricing
For a marker with 2 digits, the installed cost is $1200. I will deliver and install the marker within 30 miles of Winchester MA. Other arrangements can be made that would vary the cost. Contact me to discuss further.
